Midvale Community Lutheran Church, located at 4329 Tokay Boulevard, is holding an Immigrant Solidarity Event on Saturday October 24 from 10AM to 12:30PM. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear brief presentations the following organizations, then meet at individual tables with each presenter to learn in more detail how to directly impact the lives of immigrants in our community. We have the following organizations presenting:
Voces de La Frontera- Plan to hear about immigrant families in our area who have breadwinners in detention, and how you can help support access to legal services and provide mutual aid to the families in need.
Centro of Dane County- Centro provides case management, legal services, social support and connections with other community organizations. Learn how you can support their efforts.
Community Immigration Law Center (CILC)- CILC has been inundated with requests from families seeking to find their detained loved ones and provide legal support.
Neighborhood ICEOUT groups- Several neighborhood groups are now operating in the local area. Learn how to join these groups and hear how to provide mutual aid, rent assistance, and transportation to our immigrant neighbors.
Sanctuary Schools- Several area schools have formed school sanctuary groups that support the families of students with food donations, clothing, and other necessities in a very trying time.
Dane Sanctuary Coalition (DSC)- Hear how you can become a volunteer driver to take people to their immigration hearings at Immigration Court and check in’s with ICE as required.
