Summit for Religious Freedom
There is power in coming together — among people of all religions and none, across age, race, gender, ability, geography, orientation, and politics — to protect freedom without favor and equality without exception for everyone.
That channeling of power will take place at the Summit for Religious Freedom (SRF, pronounced “surf”), the annual gathering at the heart of a growing, justice-rooted movement to protect inclusive religious freedom and church-state separation — the constitutional promises working together to guarantee everyone the right to live as themselves and believe as they choose, as long as they don’t harm others.
SRF is where advocates, organizers, experts, faith and secular leaders, and everyday people connect the dots between church-state separation and the issues that depend on it, like inclusive public schools, racial equality, LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive freedom, and more. It’s where we come together to defeat Christian Nationalists and other extremists that threaten a pluralistic democracy where everyone can thrive.
At SRF 2026, you’ll hear from leading voices on church-state issues and engage in programming designed to inform, equip, and mobilize our movement. You can take part in Hill Day, visiting congressional offices to deliver materials that support inclusive religious freedom, and register for the SRF Organizing Institute, a hands-on interactive training in church-state advocacy.
Americans United for Separation of Church and State (AU) is proud to convene SRF and create a space where every person and organization who connects to these issues can come together to learn, teach, share, network, and recharge for the fight ahead.
Join us from April 25–27 in Alexandria, Va. for three unforgettable days of learning, strategy, and community
Faith and Elections in the 2026 Midterms

Palm Sunday Path – Madison A Public Liturgy of Witness, Hope & Peace
The Wisconsin Council of Churches, in partnership with faith leaders and community partners from across Wisconsin, are welcoming the community to join them on the The Palm Sunday Path. All are welcome on the path.
The Palm Sunday Path is a growing movement of church leaders and faith communities who believe now is the time for Christians to stand up to rising authoritarianism and white Christian nationalism — by following Jesus more deeply. On Palm Sunday, Christians across denominations will gather for public, prayerful action. Carrying palms from morning worship, we will walk together around Capitol Square, embodying a different vision of power — the way of humility, mercy, and courageous love.
Anchored in the Matthew 25 call to feed the hungry, heal the sick, and welcome the stranger, we follow Jesus to the seat of power to witness to Christ’s reign of justice, peace, and shared belonging.
The gathering will follow a simple liturgical flow:
Gathering & Opening Prayer
Confession & Commitment
Procession with song, scripture, and shared ritual
Blessing & Sending
Following Christ’s inclusive call — across genders, races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, nations of origin, abilities, worship styles and traditions — all are welcome on the path.
Please bring:
Palm branches from your morning worship
Comfortable walking shoes
Signs reflecting messages of love, hope, peace, and inclusion

Communities across the country are gathering together for what will hope to be the largest nonviolent protests in American history. Find your local No Kings event and use your voice to stand up for your community and show the power still belongs to the people

Virtual Non-Violent Resistance Training
Interfaith Alliance is dedicated to rallying religious Americans around the message of “Choose Love, Not ICE” – making clear that brutality, repression and mass deportation runs totally counter to our values of compassion and mercy, and our belief in the common dignity and humanity of all people.
Following the horrific killing of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, faith communities there and around the country are continuing to show up right now to organize against ICE’s violence and cruelty.
We are committed to supporting nonviolent civil resistance among diverse faith communities around the country. As part of that work, we are offering a virtual training on Monday night at 6pm CST: Answering the Call: Interfaith Nonviolent Civil Resistance 201.
The training builds on the long legacy of faith-led movements for justice and introduces practical frameworks for disciplined, strategic, and morally grounded nonviolent action. Together, participants will explore how people of faith can strengthen democracy, resist authoritarianism, and support one another through collective action rooted in our shared values.
This training is for you if you are:
A clergy member, lay leader, or organizer figuring out how you can best lead and organize in this moment
Part of an interfaith or faith-based community committed showing up for democracy and human dignity
Looking for the hope that can be found in concrete tools, shared language, and real-world examples of effective nonviolent resistance
The session is part of a broader national campaign to equip and connect interfaith leaders across the country to challenge authoritarianism and ICE cruelty—and participants will have opportunities to stay engaged through future trainings and local collaboration.
Join us as we answer this call together—grounded in faith, guided by conscience, and committed to the work of democracy for all.
